Mountain Biking: the local region is a true mountain biker’s (MTB) paradise, with vast terrain to suit everyone from expert off-roaders to novices. In a typical holiday you need never ride the same route twice, and can expect to encounter every trail type imaginable: from sweeping single tracks to high mountain traverses, from rock gardens to woodland trails. We can advise routes and provide guides if required, as well as arranging bike and equipment hire. Note – over the summer months you can take advantage of the ski-lift system to access the highest peaks in the region and ensure you ride some truly remarkable terrain.
Walking: The local Alpine hiking is stunning, whether you wish to challenge yourself and visit the network of high mountain refuges, or take it easy along the ancient irrigation channels (bisses) which cover the valleys. Each season brings its own pleasures – the blooming life of springtime with dramatic waterfalls from the meltwater, the wonderful climate in summer, and the beautiful landscapes in autumn as the trees change colour.
Speciality: The beauty and tranquillity of the region in spring and autumn make it perfect for activities such as Painting, Creative Writing and Yoga. We are pleased to offer courses in these areas with comprehensive programmes including expert tuition and superb food and wine. We also offer Health, wellbeing and relaxation programmes with therapy and full Board included. Please contact us for further details and prices.
Sports weeks: For fitness enthusiasts, cyclists and triathletes, use the chalet as a base for an awesome week or two of altitude training to supercharge your fitness. The climate is perfect for training – sunny but not too hot, with the clear mountain air the Swiss Alps are famous for. Get in some serious hill work on your road bike, enjoy some fantastic trail runs and develop your swimming fitness in the local pool just a few minutes from the chalet. After training, let your hosts ensure optimum recovery with carefully planned meals. Please contact us to discuss a package tailored to your needs.
Golf: there are several wonderful Alpine golf courses within an hour of the chalet. Just over the hill, in Verbier, is an 18-hole, par 69 course, with great views over Verbier and the local mountains. Across the Rhone valley in Crans Montana, is a Severiano Ballesteros course, the host of the Omega Masters and famous as perhaps the best Alpine golf course. The Evian Masters Golf Club, located on the south of lake Geneva, is also within about an hour’s drive, whilst within 30 minutes in Sion is a valley course. Another outstanding mountain course lies an hour away in Chamonix, at the bottom of a glacial valley between Mont Blanc and Les Aiguilles Rouges.
Other activities to enjoy locally include fishing, horse-riding, para-gliding, mountaineering and rock climbing. We can arrange cultural tours of points of interest in the Valais region, or just enjoy relaxing and sunbathe on our terrace!
